Regions / Properties ( Vineyards / Farms / Orchards / Plantations …)

Overview

Vinsight splits fruit, where that fruit is grown and who owns it into several entities.

  1. A “Grower” is a company or person that owns a Property or Vineyard. A grower is a Contact with the “Grower” flag set
  2. A “Property” or Vineyard is a contiguous piece of land with in one region that you grow fruit or produce this might be a Vineyard, Farm,  Orchard or Plantation etc depending on your industry. It is owned by a Grower
  3. A “Sub-Block” is an area in a Vineyard that has a single variety/clone or cultivar associated with it. A Property can have many Sub-Blocks.

Regions and properties  are found in the Settings > Grow area.

How to create:

Regions

A region is used to describe a physical place where a property exists. The regions area keeps a record of all the different regions that the system knows about. This is an important piece of data for traceability when proving origin labeling.

Create a new region:

  1. Go to Regions in the Settings > Grow area.
  2. Press the “New” button.
  3. Enter a code and a description.
e.g. AUCK, Auckland or SA-BA, Barossa or BDX, Bordeaux
  4. Press “Save.”

Properties ( Vineyards / Farms / Orchards / Plantations …)

The properties area is where we keep a record of all the properties we interact with.  This includes your own and any from which you outsource your fruit or produce from.

Create a new property:

  1. Go to  Properties ( Vineyards / Orchards / Plantations …) in the Settings > Grow area.
  2. Click the “New” button.
  3. Enter a code, description, owner and region.e.g. HHV, Happy Hills Vineyard, Happy Harry, AUCK.
  4. Press “Save.”

Listing properties:

You will find a list of all the properties in your system by going to Properties (Vineyards/ Orchards / Plantations . . . ) in the Settings > Grow area.  From here you can drill down to view, edit or delete the details of any of these properties.
